Oregon Big Leaf Maple is slightly coarser than European or Eastern Hard Rock Maple and as so is somewhat harder to work. Despite this, the figure, beauty of the wood and the excellent color variations easily overcome any difficulties in working. Maple is a wonderful wood for those who seek a creative flare in their projects. No two pieces are exactly the same! We can ship this material to the USA or overseas.
FIGURED LUMBER:
This is a great batch of Fiddleback Maple lumber, which contains wood that ranges from subtle all of the way to Extra fancy. Material is kiln dried and surfaced on two sides. Surface scuffs from planing are possible on some boards but will easily sand off. Boards may have a slight bow that could range from 1/32" up to 1/8" but since the wood is flexible, it can be worked with easily. There may be a rough edge on a board but they have been measured inside of this.We have hand selected our very finest boards from the last year of production to offer you in this unique, highly figured Anniversary special!
STANDARD BOWL BLANKS:
These bowl blanks are high quality, standard grade. They have been freshly cut from seasoned logs and fully wax sealed; they have lost approximately half of their original moisture. These are ideal for twice turning asthey will produce long shavings andvery little sawdust in theair. Blanks will dry easily once turned. We are happy to answer any questions you have about twice turning. Pieces are exceptionally clean but may have a bark incursion or minor defect that will easily turn away and are present on only a few blanks.These are a great value!
