Emanating from Southeast Asia, Hopea Stone (Hopea odorata) is a dense species with beautiful characteristics. It is one of the densest species from Southeast Asia. In western cultures a hardwood like this would be referred to as Ironwood due to its density. It finishes to an extremely high, lustrous polish. It's a wonderful choice for knife handles, woodturning, pistol grips, and other fine woodworking projects. It is very durable! Hopea Stone burl resembles Amboyna burl and Afzelia burl in color and burl patterns.
