Collection: Red Grandis

Red Grandis is a hybrid exotic wood that is sustainably plantation grown in Brazil. It is a eucalyptus species that grows to heights reaching 100 ft. tall with trunks of 3-4 ft. in diameter. The wood is pink to dark red in tone, aging to colors that are similar to Honduras Mahogany or Cherry. The grain is open with small to medium sized pores. Knots or other defects may be present in the lumber, since limbs are commonly sawn off as the tree grows. The density of the Red Grandis ranges from .60-.85. It works well with hand and power tools but can burn easily in the cutting process. This hardwood species is ideal for flooring, cabinets, boxes, and other fine woodworking projects.
