Collection: Myrtle, Crepe

American grown Crepe Myrtle, Lagerstroemia spp, is less dense and easier to work than Lagerstroemia grown in Asia (commonly referred to as Asian Satinwood or Pyinma). Densities vary from .45-.55 as compared to the Asian grown wood which ranges from .55 to .71. The American grown trees are much smaller than their Asian counterparts. Crepe Myrtle can have incredible fiddleback that varies from tree to tree. Although Crepe Myrtle is considered difficult to work, it is very worth the effort! The wonderful luster in this hardwood produces woodworking projects with great depth.
