Collection: Asian Satinwood

Asian Satinwood, also known as Pyinma, is a beautiful, highly figured exotic hardwood that can have deep penetrating curl. Originating from Southeast Asia, it is most often called Asian Satinwood on the US market. Trees are typically 40-75' tall with diameters of 2-3' on average. This tree also produces un-figured stock that is used for cabinets, floors, and other woodworking projects. Asian Satinwood is stable in service with darker colors than Eastern Maple. It is susceptible to surface checks when drying. This hardwood is excellent for pool cues, knives, duck calls, bowls, vessels, and pen stock as the luster produced is absolutely stunning. This species produces some of the deepest 3-dimensional curl in the world.
