Brazilian Itauba Turning Sale!
Itauba is a little known species in the United States. From Eastern Brazil, its colors range from reds to browns with the overlying feel of African Sapele that is slightly denser. The wood turns well with sharp tools. Grain is generally interlocked, giving some three dimensional properties to quarter sawn faces. The wood has moderate to high blunting of tools but saws without difficulty. It glues well under normal circumstances. This is a great, low cost substitute for Mahogany!
